Marcos will open his campaign at the Bank Austria TennisTrophy on Thursday in Vienna when he faces German Bjorn Phau in the second round of the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis tournament.
While No. 4 seed Marcos had a bye through the first round, World No. 89 Phau defeated last week’s Stockholm finalist Florian Mayer in straight sets. It was the 31 year old’s first ATP World Tour-level win in a month, since reaching the quarter-finals in Bucharest.
Phau’s success this season has come primarily on the ATP Challenger Tour, where he has won titles in Biella and Alessandria and reached the quarter-finals in Rennes and Orleans in the past two weeks. Marcos will face the right-hander for the first time, with the winner to face either Michael Berrer or Pablo Cuevas in the quarter-finals.
The match is scheduled to take place on centre court not before 6:30 pm local time (7:30 pm Cyprus, 5:30 pm UK, 12:30 pm ET) Thursday. Check out the full order of play here.
