Marcos and Dudi Sela fell just short in their first-round doubles match at the LA Tennis Open, losing to Russian duo Igor Kunitsyn and Marat Safin 6-7(6), 6-2, 11-9 – a match in which they held one match point in the decisive Tie-break.

After a good warm up in the doubles, Marcos will now turn his attention to his singles campaign – which begins against Canadian Frank Dancevic on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The two 24 year olds have met once before, with Marcos taking the spoils in straight sets on indoor carpet in Zagreb two years ago.

World No. 114 Dancevic is coming off a strong performance in Indianapolis, where he defeated two Top 50 players en route to the semi-finals – losing to Sam Querrey. The right-hander also enjoyed success during the grass-court season, qualifying into the main draw at Eastbourne before going on to reach his second career ATP World Tour final – finishing runner-up to Dmitry Tursunov.

The match has received Straus Stadium court billing and will be third on, starting not before 4 p.m.(midnight BST, 1 a.m. CET).
