The draw for the French Open was made on Friday; Marcos has been drawn in the third quarter and will face Argentine Juan Monaco in the first round of the clay-court Grand Slam at Roland Garros.
Monaco of Argentina is playing in the Roland Garros main draw for the sixth time and enjoyed his best performance in 2007, when he reached the fourth round. He and Marcos will meet for the first time.
Unfortunately, the draw does not get any easier for Marcos as in the second round he could face either Julien Benneteau or No. 9 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga – who meet in an all-French first-round clash.
Also in Marcos’ quarter are No. 5 seed Juan Martin del Potro, No. 16 seed Tommy Robredo and World No. 4 Novak Djokovic – who has been in strong form in recent weeks on European clay.
