Marcos’ run at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis has come to an end at the hands of American Sam Querrey. The eighth seed was on top form as he dismissed Marcos 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday evening.
In the 52-minute match, Querrey was strong on serve – saving both break points he faced and only dropping six points when he connected with his first serve. Marcos struggled with a low 49% first serve and was broken four times.
It is Querrey’s third straight victory over Marcos, including a win in the San Jose first round last week.
Marcos now moves on to the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships, which begins on Monday. The quality field (player list) includes Lleyton Hewitt, Tommy Haas and Guillermo Canas….and no Sam Querrey!
