Marcos will look to take his strong form into next week’s Pilot Pen Tennis as he finalises his US Open preparations as the top seed at the ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament in New Haven.
As the No. 1 seed in the 48-player draw, Marcos receives a bye through the first round and will open his campaign against either Russian Igor Andreev or France’s Arnaud Clement. He is projected to meet No. 14 seed Juan Ignacio Chela in the third round and No. 6 Tommy Robredo in the quarter-finals.
Also in the top half of the draw with Marcos are this week’s Cincinnati finalist, Mardy Fish, No. 13 seed Michael Berrer, No. 12 Thiemo de Bakker and No. 8 Florian Mayer. World No. 25 Thomaz Bellucci headlines the bottom half of the draw and is joined by third-seeded wild card Fernando Gonzalez, fifth seed Andrey Golubev and seventh seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.
