Wayne Odesnik proved too strong for Marcos, as he secured his place in the 2nd RD of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, beating the Cypriot in three sets, 7-6(5) 1-6 6-4.
The match proved to be extremely close fought, the fact that the first set resulted in a tie-break, reflects this, as well as the eagerness for both players to take an early lead in the match. The break eventually fell to the American, who secured the first set 7-5 in the tie-break.
However, Marcos started the second set with extreme determination and vigour, as he soared to success with numerous breaks of the Odesnik serve. Marcos fought to win the second set, 6-1, as if to remind the American that he holds the career lead between the pair.
Therefore, a deciding set was needed to differentiate between the players, and it proved yet again to be extremely close, with no obvious sign in which direction the match would go.
