The draw for the inaugural Open de Nice Côte d’Azur was made over the weekend and Marcos, seeded fifth at the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament, will face Croatian wild card Mario Ancic in the first round.
The tournament, which began on Sunday and will finish on Saturday, is headed up by No. 1 seed Robin Soderling and No. 2 Fernando Verdasco. Marcos is in the bottom half of the draw and could face Verdasco in the semi-finals. Should he advance past Ancic in his first match, Marcos would face either Arnaud Clement or Simon Greul in the second round, with fourth seed Thomaz Bellucci a likely quarter-final opponent.
