Marcos will look to defeat Rafael Nadal for the first time in six meetings when the two meet in the first round of the China Open in Beijing on Tuesday.

World No. 2 Nadal has won all five of their previous meetings, most recently at the BNP Paribas Masters semi-finals in 2007 when he recovered from a set down.

Check out full head-to-head details here.

Both Marcos and Nadal are former champions at the China Open. Nadal lifted the trophy in 2005 on his only previous event appearance, before Marcos triumphed a year later with victory over Mario Ancic in the final.

The 23-year-old Nadal is making his return from an abdominal strain that kept him sidelined since reaching the US Open semi-finals. As has been the case for Marcos, it has been a season interrupted by injury for Nadal, who was also forced to miss Wimbledon due to tendonitis in his knees.

Marcos will look to stop a run off 11 straight victories in the Chinese capital for Nadal. As well as winning the China Open title in 2005, the Mallorcan also clinched the Olympic Games gold medal in Beijing last year.

The match takes place fourth on Center Court Tuesday, following defending champion Andy Roddick’s clash with Lukasz Kubot. The day’s play gets underway at 11 a.m. local time (+8hrs GMT).
