Marcos is competing in France next week. He is seeded seventh in the ATP World Tour 250 event in Marseille, named Open 13. The indoor hard courts in the Mediterranean coast city have suited Marcos in the past; in 2007 he reached the final before being losing a tight match to Gilles Simon 4-6, 6-7.
First up for Marcos this year is Daniel Brands, an unseeded German, and the two have not met previously. The 6' 5", 22 year old from Deggendorf is currently ranked 97 and is yet to win an ATP World Tour-level match in 2010. If Marcos progresses he could meet top seed Robin Soderling in the quarter-finals, while fourth seed Tommy Robredo and sixth seed Mikhail Youzhny are also in that half of the draw.

In the doubles Marcos is teaming up with Frenchman Thierry Ascione. Although the two have never played together in an ATP World Tour event, they did pair up in a challenger event in 2003. In the first round, Marcos and Thierry come up against the top seeds Julian Knowle and Robert Lindstedt, the toughest of draws.

After his good win over James Blake and strong showing against World No. 6 Nikolay Davydenko in Rotterdam this week, Marcos will travel to the south of France in confident mood. Stay tuned to Baghdatis.com throughout the week for all the latest news and photos.
Go, Marcos!
