Marcos and Mikhail Youzhny made an impressive start to the defence of their PBZ Zagreb Indoors doubles title on Tuesday as they stunned top seeds and three-time Wimbledon finalists Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau 6-2, 6-1.
The Cypriot/Russian pair, who won the Zagreb title on their team debut last year, converted four of their eight break point chances to claim victory in 52 minutes.
Marcos returns to action on Wednesday at this ATP World Tour 250 indoor tournament when he faces Germany’s Tobias Kamke in the singles first round. Marcos defeated Kamke in their one previous meeting, prevailing in three sets on clay in Munich last year.
World No. 89 Kamke has won only two tour-level matches this year and is competing in Zagreb after travelling all the way from Argentina, having represented Germany in Davis Cup first-round action at the weekend.
The match is scheduled for not before 2:45pm local time (GTM +1hr) on Wednesday. Check out the full order of play here.
