Marcos has withdrawn from the LG & T Tennis Challenger in Binghamton. Marcos had been due to face Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz in the first round on Tuesday; he was replaced in the draw by a lucky loser.
It was an extremely busy week for Marcos last week at the Odlum Brown Van Open in Vancouver, winning the singles title and reaching the doubles semi-finals. With a tight schedule presented to him in Binghamton, he was too tired to do justice to his campaign.
“We obviously were all disappointed. We wanted to see him play tonight,” stated Tournament Director, Laurie Bowen. “Luckily for one young man, a lucky loser got in and he gets to be part of the tournament and the main draw.”
Marcos will now take a week to rest before hopefully participating in the qualifying tournament for ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Cincinnati, where main draw action begins Sunday. He will then play at Pilot Pen Tennis in New Haven.
