Marcos and fourth seed David Ferrer will face off in a blockbuster third-round clash that has been scheduled for the Rod Laver night session on Friday in Melbourne. The pair will take to the court following Venus Williams vs. Maria Sharapova, who begin at 7pm local time (GMT +11hrs).

Marcos prepared for the clash with success in the doubles in soaring temperatures on Thursday at Melbourne Park. He partnered Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov to a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory over Australian/American duo Matt Ebden and Ryan Harrison. Marcos and Grigor hit seven aces and 31 winners as they prevailed in 83 minutes.
Marcos and Grigor go onto face fourth seeds Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau.
