Marcos will have to finish his first-round match at Roland Garros on Wednesday after bad light stopped play on Tuesday night. The match with Frenchman Benoit Paire was finely balanced in the third set, with Paire leading 3-6, 7-6(1), 4-3, having just broken in the final game.
Rain had wreaked havoc on the schedule and heavily delayed the contest between Marcos and Paire, which was third on Suzanne Lenglen Court. In a tense sixth game of the third set, Marcos was denied on eight break points before the momentum swung in Paire’s favour as he held serve and broke for the 4-3 lead.
The match will resume Wednesday on the same court, beginning not before 12pm CET.
