The draw for the French Open was made on Friday and Marcos will face 24th-seeded Frenchman Benoit Paire in the first round.
Paire will be a tough test for Marcos, with the Frenchman enjoying the best season of his career. He is coming off his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 semi-final in Rome (l. to Federer) and reached the Montpellier final in February (l. to Gasquet).
However, Marcos did beat the 24 year old in their one previous meeting at this year’s Rotterdam indoor hard court tournament.
Should Marcos advance, he would face a second-round contest against either Lukasz Kubot or Maxime Teixeira. He is in the same section of the draw as No. 13 seed Kei Nishikori - a potential third-round opponent – and seven-time champion Rafael Nadal, whom he could face in the fourth round.
