Marcos will contest the China Open in Beijing after being awarded a wild card into the ATP World Tour 500 tennis tournament.
Marcos has great memories of the tournament in Beijing, having captured his first ATP World Tour title there in 2006 with victory over Mario Ancic in the final. On his second and most recent visit in 2007 he reached the quarter-finals, losing out to Ivan Ljubicic in a third-set tie-break.
This year the event will be played at the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Center, which was purpose-built for the 2008 Olympic Games. In the 10-court venue there are three main courts built to represent lotus flowers – an emblem of the Beijing Olympics.
It is a star-studded field in the Chinese capital this year with World No. 2 Rafael Nadal, No. 4 Novak Djokovic, defending champion/No. 6 Andy Roddick, No. 8 Nikolay Davydenko and No. 9 Fernando Gonzalez all set to appear. Former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin has also received a wild card.
The tournament gets underway on the 5th October.
