Marcos will commence his quest for Doubles success on Tuesday, when he partners Argentine Juan-Francisco Spina in the 1st RD of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships. The wildcard pair will face home hopeful Sam Querrey and Pakistani, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, with the extreme likelihood of facing the No. 2 seeds, Huss and Hutchins, should Marcos progress to the 2nd RD.
The match will no doubt prove difficult, perhaps due to this being the first doubles appearance on the World Tour this year from World No. 800 Spina, who will be looking to the experience of Marcos. In addition, Qureshi holds the impressive No. 100 spot on the Men’s Doubles Draw, with notable successes including reaching the 3rd RD of Wimbledon and winning in Khorat. Qureshi partners World No. 37 Sam Querrey, who will be keen to progress further than the 1st Rd, as he did at Wimbledon, losing to the Champions, Nestor and Zimonjic.
Marcos will be hopeful to consolidate on his recent Doubles win in the Davis Cup, when he partnered fellow Cypriot Kallias, to beat Irish pair McGee and O’Brien earlier this month, on a similar surface.
