Marcos will open his Pilot Pen Tennis campaign against Portuguese qualifier Frederico Gil on Monday afternoon at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament.
World No. 110 Gil qualified into the main draw for the loss of just one set, defeating Stephen Bass, Brendan Evans and Dusan Vemic. He is making his debut at New Haven.
The 24 year old opened the 2009 season with back-to-back semi-final showings at Johannesburg and Costa do Sauipe and later reached the quarter-finals in Casablanca in April. Since then though, the right-hander has failed to win back-to-back tour-level matches and has made more of an impression on the ATP Challenger Tour, reaching the final in Tunis and the semi-finals in Istanbul.
Marcos has played Gil just once before and won in straight sets in Davis Cup action at the start of the season.
This first-round match has been given Stadium court billing and will begin not before 1:00 p.m. local time (6 p.m. BST, 7 p.m. CET).
