Marcos will look to cap his 2016 campaign with a strong run on the European indoor hard courts, as the final swing of the ATP World Tour season begins on Monday.
Marcos is seeded eighth at the If Stockholm Open, where he reached the semi-finals last year. Marcos has fond memories of Stockholm, having claimed his third ATP World Tour title there in 2009. He will be tested often this time, with big-hitting Kevin Anderson his first round opponent and a potential quarter-final match-up against second seed and 2013 winner Grigor Dimitrov.
Marcos has split two head-to-head meetings with Anderson, although they have not faced off in three years. The South African won in Vienna in 2011 and Marcos got his revenge at the US Open in 2013.
