Marcos will face Finn Jarkko Nieminen in the first round of the Brisbane International, beginning on Sunday.
World No. 37 Nieminen was runner-up at the event last year, in its final year hosted in Adelaide.
Marcos, who has a wild card into the main draw, could face a potential second round clash with 2008 Australian open runner-up and second seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, if the Frenchman advances past Agustin Calleri.
In the same, bottom quarter of the draw as Marcos is No. 7 seed Richard Gasquet. Defending champion Michael Llodra lurks in the same half, as do fourth seed Robin Soderling and No. 8 seed Radek Stepanek.

Marcos rang in the New Year at the official players’ party at the River Room on Brisbane’s festive Southbank. Also in attendance were Tomas Berdych, with his WTA Tour girlfriend Lucie Safarova, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The guests were entertained by a live band and a magician.
