Marcos is poised to register his first match win as a 30 year old when he squares off against Victor Estrella Burgos in the first round of the Aegon Open Nottingham.
Marcos, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday, is coming off a second round finish on the grass courts of Stuttgart last week. He was defeated by top seed Rafael Nadal and could potentially face another top seeded Spaniard this week, with David Ferrer waiting in the second round.
Marcos will battle Estrella Burgos in what will be their first encounter. The Dominican Republic native is at No. 49 in the Emirates ATP Rankings and claimed his first ATP World Tour title earlier this year in Quito, at the age of 34.
Marcos, who has won 7 of his last 10 matches on the ATP World Tour against players older than him, will look to build on a 37-26 career record on grass. Other seeds in his quarter of the draw include eighth-seed Adrian Mannarino and 10th-seed Martin Klizan.
