Marcos will open his US Open campaign against a qualifier. The qualifying competition concludes at Flushing Meadows on Friday and the successful players will be entered into the draw.
Should he win his first-round match, Marcos will face either 14th-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov or American Jesse Levine. Advancing further would likely see him face 18th-seeded Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round. Defending champion and World No. 2 Novak Djokovic could lie in wait in the fourth round.
Marcos has played some memorable matches at Flushing Meadows in his six previous appearances, most notably extending Andre Agassi to five sets in a dramatic second-round clash in 2006. He will be looking to advance past the second round for the first time.
Main draw play begins on Monday in New York. Stay tuned to www.baghdatis.com for all the latest news.
Go, Marcos!
