Marcos will begin his debut Open de Moselle campaign on Tuesday evening in Metz, when he comes up against top seeded Croatian Ivo Karlovic.
World No. 14 Karlovic has enjoyed another stellar year on the ATP circuit and is enjoying a career-high ranking as a just reward for his efforts. The 6'10'' Croatian has fired a whopping ATP best 824 aces this season, an average of 17.5 each match, captured his fourth ATP title at Nottingham and defeated Roger Federer at Masters Series Cincinnati on his way to the semifinals. The 29-year-old Zagreb resident is making his debut in Metz.
Considering Marcos is still feeling his way back to form after a right wrist injury, this is likely to be a tricky match. However, the good news is that Marcos won their only previous meeting in Marseille earlier this season, pretty convincingly too in straight sets -breaking the phenomenal Karlovic serve twice!
With Marcos being such a fan favourite and Karlovic the top seed this week, the match has been awarded the prime slot on Tuesday, starting not before 6:00pm local time on Center Court.
