Marcos is through to the third round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters after two impressive wins over Fabio Fognini and Milos Raonic.
On Tuesday, Marcos needed just 73 minutes to dismiss Fognini 6-2, 6-2, creating 13 break points and only dropping eight points behind his own serve in a dominant display. The match against the 12th-seeded Raonic a day later was far more competitive. Lasting two hours and 40 minutes, Marcos edged the Canadian 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 7-6(3), having hit 12 aces and broken the famed Raonic serve on two occasions.
Next up for Marcos will be a clash with fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is looking for a good showing this week to boost his chances of qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. The Frenchman is on a good run of form, having won the Metz title and reached the Beijing final in the past three weeks.
Marcos will hope to score his first win in three attempts against the 27-year-old Tsonga. Their most recent clash came in Dubai, earlier this year, where Tsonga won in two close sets. Check out their full head-to-head stats here.
The match is scheduled to take place first on Stadium court, with play beginning at 2pm local time (+7hrs BST; +5hrs Cyprus). See the full order of play here.
