The last time Marcos was the top seed at a tournament, he surged to the Vancouver Challenger title in July. This week, he makes his first appearance in the French island town of Le Gosier, Guadeloupe, located in the Caribbean.
The $100,000 hard court event also features 2013 titlist Benoit Paire, seeded third, and World No. 66 Pablo Andujar. Marcos opens his quest for an 11th ATP Challenger Tour crown against Darian King, and could face fifth-seeded Korean rising star Hyeon Chung in the quarter-finals.
In two events on the Challenger circuit this year, Marcos finished runner-up in Happy Valley and reached the quarter-finals in Irving.
