Marcos has advanced to the second round of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kei Nishikori on Tuesday in Memphis.
In a match featuring eight breaks of serve, Marcos converted five of eight break points, served seven aces and lost only five points behind his first serve to prevail after 83 minutes in his first match against Nishikori.
In the second round of the ATP World Tour 500 event, Marcos will face either eighth seed Sam Querrey or Tommy Haas.
