Marcos suffered a disappointing first-round loss at The Championships, Wimbledon on Tuesday as Slovakian Lukas Lacko caused an upset with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory on Court Five at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
A nervous start by Marcos cost him as Lacko broke serve in the first game of the match. Despite having break point opportunities to draw level, Marcos was unable to get back on level terms and Lacko went on to secure a one-set lead, breaking again in the ninth game.
Marcos hit back strongly in the second set, breaking serve in the first game courtesy of a double fault from Lacko. He then broke serve again in the fifth game as he gathered momentum and levelled the match by serving out the second set 6-2.
In a tight third set, Lacko broke through in the eighth game with a deep return to force the error from Marcos and secured a two-sets-to-one lead with a confident service game. The 22-year-old Lacko then raced to victory in the fourth set, winning it 6-1 in 20 minutes.
