Marcos will face top seed Ivo Karlovic in the second round of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors after defeating wild card Toni Androic 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tournament.
Marcos recovered from the loss of the first set to break the No. 294-ranked Androic three times. He fired 13 aces and won 70 per cent of his service points as he wrapped up victory in two hours and seven minutes.
Marcos will face Karlovic for the first time in seven years, with the pair having split their two previous meetings. The 35-year-old Karlovic made a strong start to the season as he upset World No. 1 Novak Djokovic to reach the Doha semi-finals. He made a second-round exit to Nick Kyrgios at the Australian Open.
The match is scheduled for last on Wednesday, starting at approximately 8pm CET.
