Marcos is seeded third at the Tashkent Challenger next week as he bids to win his third ATP Challenger Tour title of the year.
Two ATP Challenger Tour titles in Vancouver and St. Remy have already helped Marcos return to the Top 100 in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings at No. 90, and a good run next week would further boost his ranking.
In the first round Marcos will face Ukrainian Sergei Bubka, currently ranked No. 276 and looking for his first match win since advancing through the first round of US Open qualifying in August.
Newport winner Rajeev Ram is seeded to be Marcos’ quarter-final opponent, before a possible semi-final match up with top seed Yen-Hsun Lu, whom Marcos defeated in a third-set tie-break in the first round of the Proton Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009 last week.

Marcos is also involved in the doubles next week, partnering Belgian Christophe Rochus. The unseeded duo is playing together for the first time and will face Uzbekistan pairing Murad Inoyatov and Denis Istomin in the first round, with a potential quarter-final meeting against fourth-seeded Russians Michail Elgin and Evgeny Kirillov.
