Marcos is seeded sixth at next week’s Topshelf Open and will face Argentine Carlos Berlocq in the first round of the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Marcos, who celebrates his 28th birthday on Monday, is set to make his fifth appearance at the Dutch event. He reached the semi-finals on his last appearance in 2011 (l. to Dodig) and also on his 2006 debut (l. to Ancic).
Marcos beat Berlocq in their one previous meeting at last year’s Rogers Cup in Toronto. Should he advance, he will face either Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut or a qualifier for a place in a potential quarter-final clash against top seed and Roland Garros runner-up David Ferrer.
Stanislas Wawrinka is the No. 2 seed, with John Isner, Benoit Paire, Jeremy Chardy, Victor Hanescu and Daniel Gimeno-Traver the other seeds competing.
