Marcos is back in action next week at the Winston-Salem Open, making his third trip to the hard-court stop in the Emirates Airline US Open Series.
The ATP World Tour 250 event, which is held on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is the last tournament before the US Open. Marcos reached the quarter-finals in 2011, his best result.
Seeded 14th, he opens against the winner of the first round meeting between Sergiy Stakhovsky and a qualifier. Top seed Gilles Simon and seventh seed Sam Querrey are the other big threats in his quarter.
Marcos is coming off a run to the final in Atlanta - his 12th on the ATP World Tour. Despite falling to John Isner in the title match, he reeled off impressive wins over seeds Vasek Pospisil and Gilles Muller.
