Marcos Makes His Return After Injury Lay-Off
Marcos made his much anticipated return to tennis with a semifinal appearance at the ATP Challenger event in Orleans in early September.
Having played only intermittently since the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells due to a ligament injury in his right wrist caused by overuse, Marcos quickly found his form to make a successful comeback and encouragingly recorded three solid victories.
While his wrist is now fine after the rest he took this summer, Marcos was forced to retire in the semifinals against Christophe Rochus citing a tired arm, which is to be understood after having not played competitively since a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon.
Marcos has taken one week to recover and continued his training in Paris. He made a brief trip back home to Cyprus for a sponsor commitment before flying back to France, where he will play a second event on the ATP Challenger Circuit in Grenoble, which begins on September 22.
All being well, Marcos intends to finish his season with a heavy schedule of five consecutive events on the ATP circuit, beginning with Metz on September 29. The following week he will play in Vienna before heading to Madrid to contest the Mutua Madrilena Masters event. From there, Marcos will travel to Basel, where he has always enjoyed strong results, before finishing in Paris at the BNP Paribas Masters.
Glad to have you back, Marcos!
