After several weeks training hard at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Marcos is set to return to action next week at the Aegon Trophy in Nottingham, an ATP Challenger Tour event.
Following his appearance in Nottingham, Marcos will travel to London for the Aegon Championships at The Queen’s Club, where he has been awarded a wild card for the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tournament.
Marcos has enjoyed some of the best results on his career on grass, reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2006, the quarter-finals in 2007 and finishing runner-up in Halle in 2007. He is hoping a good run in June will help to kick start a rankings’ resurgence.
Speaking to his new racquet sponsor, Pacific, Marcos said, “My main drive is the fans, and the excitement they bring to my matches, wherever I go. It is very nice to receive the support I get when I go on the court. It means a lot to me and to get so much respect wherever I go, is truly an honour.
“What really drives me is to work hard and get back to the Top 10, my main goal, as I am aiming to finish the next couple of years of my career on a high note.”
