Marcos is through to the second round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament after beating German qualifier Matthias Bachinger 7-6(2), 6-2 on Wednesday in Rotterdam.
Marcos fired 11 aces and converted both his break point opportunities to claim victory in 75 minutes at the ATP World Tour 500 indoor hard-court tennis tournament, staged at the Ahoy Stadium.
For a place in the quarter-finals, Marcos will face second seed Tomas Berdych, who defeated fellow Czech Lukas Rosol 6-4, 6-2. Marcos has a 2-2 record against the No. 7-ranked Berdych, and won their most recent encounter two years ago in Cincinnati.
The match is scheduled to take place on Thursday, beginning not before 1:30pm on Centre Court.
