In a match heavily delayed due to rain in Nottingham, Marcos reached the final of the Aegon Trophy with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over top seed Igor Sijsling on Saturday at the ATP Challenger Tour grass-court tournament.
Marcos served nine aces and converted three of his seven break points to seal victory in 71 minutes. He saved all four break points he faced in the second set.
Marcos is bidding to win his first ATP Challenger Tour title since 2009, when he won three consecutive crowns in Vancouver, St. Remy and Tashkent. In Sunday’s final, he will face either Gilles Muller or Marinko Matosevic.
