With their Davis Cup Group III tie knotted at one win each, Cyprus captain Photos Kallias called on Marcos to give the team the decisive victory over Greece.
He did just that, joining forces with Petros Chrysochos to prevail 6-3, 6-2 over Ionnis Stergious and Eleftherios Theodorou in just 71 minutes. They converted on four of 11 break chances and did not face one on their own serves.
The win sends Cyprus to the Group III promotion playoff, where they will face Norway with a berth in Group II on the line. Estonia clashes against Georgia in the other match-up. All matches are held at the Centro Tennis Cassa di Risparmio in San Marino.
