Marcos is through to the second round of the If Stockholm Open after ousting third seed Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-4, 6-2 Wednesday at the ATP World Tour 250 event.
One break of serve was enough to seal the first set for Marcos and he was quick to capitalise on his momentum with a service break in the third game of the second set. Ferrero hit back to level at 2-2, but Marcos quickly regained his lead and won the final four games of the match to seal victory after one hour and 24 minutes.

Marcos was strong on serve in the pair’s third meeting, firing 13 aces – often on crucial points – and winning 85 per cent of points on his first serve as he improved to a 2-1 career lead over former World No. 1 Ferrero.
For a place in his third ATP World Tour quarter-final of the season, Marcos will face American Robert Kendrick, who defeated Oscar Hernandez in the first round on Tuesday. It will be the pair’s first meeting.
World No. 86 Kendrick is looking to reach his first ATP World Tour quarter-final of the season and has won back-to-back matches just once in an ATP World Tour main draw, reaching the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
The match will take place second on Centre Court Thursday, with play beginning at 1 p.m. local time (GMT +2hrs). Check out the full order of play here.
