Seeded eighth this week at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, Marcos will face 2015 runner-up Adrian Mannarino on Tuesday.
Making his third tournament appearance, Marcos will seek a strong performance at the ATP World Tour 250 event. He opens against the 28-year-old Mannarino, who enters on the heels of winning the Noumea Challenger title on Saturday.
Marcos would face either American teenager Michael Mmoh or wild card Dustin Brown in the second round, with top seed and defending champion Roberto Bautista Agut potentially looming in the quarter-finals. Third seed and three-time champion David Ferrer is also a threat in the half of his draw. The Top 3 Americans John Isner, Steve Johnson and Jack Sock are the big names in the other half.
