Marcos is back in action this week at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. He opens his sixth appearance in the Arabian desert with a much anticipated first round clash against rising star David Goffin.
Marcos toppled Goffin just a month ago in the second round of the Australian Open, needing two hours and 32 minutes to secure a 6-1, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 victory. It was a dominant performance from Marcos, who fired 44 winners in defeating the World No. 20. He leads Goffin 2-0 overall, having also prevailed on the hard courts of Stockholm in 2012.
Marcos will look to match his best result of a semi-final finish in Dubai (2010). A potential second round meeting with Philipp Kohlschreiber awaits, should he get past the eighth-seeded Goffin. Roger Federer and Andy Murray also reside in his half of the draw.
