Marcos will begin his bid for the Winston-Salem Open title against American Donald Young on Tuesday. It is his fourth trip to the ATP World Tour 250 event, having previously reached the quarterfinals in 2011.
Young, who beat France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert to set a second round clash against Marcos, won their lone hard-court meeting in Washington 2011. Marcos most recently prevailed at Wimbledon last year.
A win over Young would set a third round battle against either second seed Roberto Bautista Agut or Aljaz Bedene, with a potential encounter with seventh seed Gilles Simon looming in the quarterfinals. World No. 15 Richard Gasquet leads the field and is in the opposite side of the draw.
