Marcos and Mikhail Youzhny made a successful start to their doubles campaign at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors on Tuesday, defeating Julian Knowle and Michael Kohlmann 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 in the first round. The Cypriot-Russian pairing converted two if their five break points and won 11 points more than their opponents as they claimed victory in one hour and 27 minutes.
Marcos will resume his singles campaign at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard court tournament on Wednesday when he faces Poland’s Lukasz Kubot for a place in the quarter-finals. Marcos takes a 1-0 career lead into the clash, having beaten the No. 61-ranked Kubot for the loss of just four games when they played at the 2011 Brisbane International.
The second-round match will take place second on Centre Court, following a doubles match that starts at 11:30am local time (GMT +1hr). Marcos and Youzhny will then return to court for their doubles quarter-finals at 5pm on Court 1. They will face Germans Benjamin Becker and Alexander Waske. Check out the full order of play here.
