Marcos Looks Ahead After US Open Defeat

Wednesday, 02 September, 2015

Marcos  was unable to survive Steve Darcis on Tuesday at the US Open, retiring with a groin injury at 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-2, 3-1.

He fired 10 aces and won nearly 75 per cent of first serve points, but was forced to stop after two hours and 35 minutes. Marcos, who reached his 12th ATP World Tour final last month in Atlanta, made the following statement after the match:

"After Atlanta, I have been struggling with the injury, which I have worked on but was not able to play well at Winston-Salem and the US Open. It's disappointing and I’m just looking forward to sorting my injury out, heading home to get rehabilitation and rest, and come back better for the next tournaments."

Marcos was making his 10th appearance at the US Open. He concludes the 2015 Grand Slam season with a 5-4 record, having recorded third round finishes at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon - his best results at a major since 2013.
