Marcos may have endured a disappointing semi-final defeat to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Saturday at the If Stockholm Open, but he was greeted with the news afterwards that his wife Karolina had given birth to the couple’s first child, a baby girl. Zahara was born at 3:15pm and both Mum and baby are doing very well.
Contesting his second semi-final in three weeks, Marcos gave the No. 8-ranked Tsonga a stern test, pushing the Frenchman to a third set before needing to retire with a left groin injury when trailing 6-4, 4-6, 5-2.
Marcos will not be competing at the Swiss Indoors Basel next week, but is set to return for his last tournament of the season at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris, beginning Monday, 29th October.
