Another strong performance from Marcos on Friday saw him reach the semi-finals of the $125,000 ATP Challenger Tour event in Tashkent with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Russian Andrey Kumantsov.
Marcos took his only break point chance of the first set to assume a one-set lead over his No. 376-ranked opponent. Kumantsov posed a more significant threat in the second set, but Marcos denied the 23 year old on all five of the break points he created and was more successful on his own break point opportunities, converting two of his three chances to prevail after only 67 minutes.
For a place in the final, Marcos will face Ukrainian Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr, who continued his good run of form with a straight-sets win over Alexandre Kudryavtsev. World No. 160 Dolgopolov Jr. upset top seed Yen-Hsun Lu in the second round.
The 20 year old has already captured three ATP Challenger Tour titles this season, including at his most recent outing in Trnava, Slovakia, last month. Marcos will play the right-hander for the first time.
The match will be played second on Center Court, with play beginning at 11 a.m. local time (+5hrs GMT). Follow live scores of the match here.
