Marcos is closing on his third ATP Challenger Tour title of the season after reaching the semi-finals of the Comerica Bank Challenger in Aptos on Friday.
Marcos followed up 6-1, 6-3 first-round win over Andre Dome and a 6-1, 6-1 second-round win over Andrea Collarini by dismissing Ruben Bemelmans 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals in California. Marcos advanced in 77 minutes, converting three of his 11 break point chances.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Marcos will face Go Soeda of Japan. Marcos has won his past two contests with the No. 117-ranked Soeda, most recently in the first round of the 2013 US Open. The match is scheduled for third on Center, following an 11am start. The first semi-final sees Mikhail Kukushkin face Rhyne Williams.
