Marcos is set to compete at the St. Petersburg Open in Russia this week. Back in the Top 50 after his strong showing at the US Open, Marcos looks to take his good form into his debut performance at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard court tournament this week in St. Petersburg.
It’s a tough opener for Marcos as he faces fourth-seeded Russian Dmitry Tursunov, who was a semi-finalist in 2010. Marcos has an encouraging 2-1 FedEx ATP Head2Head record over the 30-year-old Tursunov, defeating him last year in straight sets in Tokyo.
Marcos is also in the same half of the draw as Mikhail Youzhny and Fernando Verdasco. Fabio Fognini leads the field as the top seed, with Janko Tipsarevic and Ernests Gulbis also in contention.
