Ahead of his first-round singles match against Frank Dancevic at the LA Tennis Open, Marcos will tune up his game in doubles action on Monday with friend Dudi Sela of Israel. The wild card pairing goes up against Russians Igor Kunitsyn and Marat Safin in the first round.
Marcos and Sela are playing together for the first time since contesting an ATP Challenger Tour event in Monza, Italy in 2005. They have teamed up five times in total, dating back to a debut outing at a Futures event in Jamaica in 2002, but this will be their first partnership at an ATP World Tour event.
In a star-studded line up on Monday evening in Los Angeles, 14-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras will face former No. 1 Marat Safin in an exhibition match starting not before 7:30 p.m before the first-round doubles match takes place – after Safin has taken appropriate rest.
