Marcos will open his campaign at the Farmers Classic on Wednesday when he faces American wild card Ryan Sweeting. While Marcos received a bye through the first round, a perk of being seeded No. 3, World No. 119 Sweeting came from a set down to defeat Kristof Vliegen.
The 23-year-old Sweeting recorded just his second ATP World Tour-level victory of the year with his first-round win; he also reached the second round in Houston as a qualifier. The American’s highlights this season have come on the ATP Challenger Tour. He won the title in Dallas in February and finished runner-up in Savannah.
Sweeting also reached the second round at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Los Angeles last year, defeating Taylor Dent in the first round, before falling to Sam Querrey.
Marcos has been in Los Angeles preparing since the weekend and on Tuesday took part in a Kids Day clinic (see photo).
The match will take place not before 4pm local time (midnight UK, 2am Cyprus) on Straus Stadium Wednesday at the UCLA. Check out the full order of play here.
