Marcos will open his US Open campaign on Tuesday when he faces French veteran Arnaud Clement in the first match on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Marcos will be making his first appearance at Flushing Meadows since 2007 and will be eager to build on his excellent summer, which saw him reach the Washington final, defeat World No. 1 Rafael Nadal en route to the Cincinnati semi-finals and post a quarter-final showing in New Haven.

Indeed, Marcos has been hitting the headlines ahead of his challenge at the US Open and was profiled in the New York Times on Sunday. Check out the great article here.

World No. 68 Clement comes into the match searching for his first tour-level win since Wimbledon, when he defeated Janko Tipsarevic and Arnaud Clement to reach the third round. The 32-year-old Frenchman opened the season with a bang, reaching his 11th tour-level final in Auckland, but has since won back-to-back tour-level matches on only two occasions.

Seasoned pro Clement is making his 13th appearance in Flushing Meadows and posted his best result in 2000 when he reached the quarter-finals. Like Marcos, he is no stranger to Grand Slam success, having also reached the Australian Open final in 2001.

Marcos takes an encouraging 4-1 record against Clement into their sixth meeting. Since losing in their first clash in Lyon in 2006, Marcos has defeated the Frenchman four times, most recently in straight sets in Indian Wells earlier this year.

The match is scheduled first on Louis Armstrong Stadium, beginning at 11am local time (4pm UK, 6pm Cyprus). See the full order of play here.
