Marcos Getting “Better and Better”

Thursday, 16 October, 2008

After spending last week in Athens receiving treatment on his back, Marcos has been back on court in Paris this week and according to coach, Peter Lundgren, things are looking up!

"We've been practicing the last couple of days, doing some light hitting, and Marcos has been getting better and better. Things are looking up," said Peter.

"We hope to be practicing in full by the end of the week. We will up the practice (level) tomorrow and hope to go to Basel at the weekend. We are hopeful that Marcos will play there."

"Marcos had good treatment last week on his back and he's getting stronger. He doesn't feel any pain now and I hope it stays that way."

The Davidoff Swiss Open, where Roger Federer is the defending champion, begins in Basel on Monday. Federer is back to lead the field this year, along with James Blake, Tomas Berdych, Juan Martin del Potro, David Nalbandian and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Marcos has enjoyed much success on his previous two visits to Basel. He was the runner-up on his debut in 2005, losing to Fernando Gonzalez, and last year reached the semifinals, falling to Jarkko Nieminen.
