Marcos will turn his attention to his doubles opener with Gilles Muller after falling in the first round of the If Stockholm Open to Kevin Anderson. The champion in 2009, Marcos was making his sixth appearance at the ATP World Tour 250 event.
Anderson prevailed 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 46 minutes. Marcos converted four of five break points and was up a break in the decider, but was unable to hold the lead. The defeat ends his seven-match win streak in first rounds.
Marcos will conclude his 2016 season in Basel and the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Paris.
